Pinned It...Nailed It !

My Grand Daughter and I both pinned a Sweet Potato Casserole recipe last week. My comment was we should give it a try. Her comment was " Let me know when." She called last night to see if I wanted company and could we make the casserole. We did. It turned out just like the picture, and tasted like dessert.

Open House

At the open house yesterday at Bloomers I bought this sign made my friend Janet from "Olde Crow Primitives"
Janet does an awesome job. She puts a lot of time into these gorgeous signs and it shows. ..I just love it.
I plan on hanging it in my entrance.

Prairie Women's Sewing Circle

I'm  back.....its been a while.
I have been busy sewing Christmas gifts for my six wonderful Grandkids. Of course I can't show you right now, but I will later :) They check out my blog from time to time.
The  other day I needed a diversion, so I sewed up a Log Cabin topper.
Shirley at the Marsh Quilt Shop is running a "Prairie Women's Sewing Circle". I was quick to sign up.
We meet once a month with a great bunch of gals.
The method used here is two strips match, only as prairie women had to make do using what they had, we are too, so I used different reds for the centres and a couple of the logs are not the same in each block.

It went together fairly quickly . Now I realize it would have been a better idea to press the seams open. Oh well, maybe next time.
Here I am auditioning reds to use for the border. I like all three. I just need one!
Decisions.. Decisions.
Next time I'll show you what I did.
Back to the sewing room..(dining room table) :)
I hope you have a great weekend.
Its been raining here all day! Again!
Till next post....

A New Day

A gorgeous sun rise and fragrant lilies bloom.
One week ago an F1 tornado tore through my home town causing much devastation. We just had the wicked winds and rain. One tree on our road fell taking hydro lines with it closing the road and knocking out power for a couple days. Nothing like what they got in town for sure. Trees fell on homes, cars and roads. You just want to reach out and help, but at this time it is wise to let the experts do their job and let friends know you are here for them. Till next time.....

Vintage Nine Patch Memory Quilt

My Cherished Mother passed away last year just as I was about to make this vintage wallhanging. The flowers and leaves are from her wool blazers and vests that I felted and dyed. The buttons are hers too. The 9 patch blocks were put together a new way that worked up quickly. My friend Janet from Olde Crow Primitives and I were sharing the dark fabrics, but more often than not they were the same as we both love the reproduction, cival war fabrics. I worked on it off and on over the year. It was comforting. Because it was vintage, I hand quilted it in tiny stitches. I just LoVe how it finished up and I know Mom would too as she knew I was going to be making it.
In the wooden bowl are some of my primitive finds from an awesome Primitive show, "Spring Plantings" I went to last week in Holly Michigan with my friend Janet. We had a wonderful time.
Memories are for sharing.
Have a great week-end.
Hugs,  Marg

I have been busy finishing up some needlepunch projects I started a while ago.I really enjoy this craft. By changing up the colors and using different depths I get the look I want. Now to mount them on some old paddles or add backings for bowl fillers, decisions decisions........
What have you been doing?

Plans Change

The other day my friends and I planned a get away. It snowed and snowed and the wind howled. We got part way to our destination and decided it was best to stay put. So off we went for coffee and a snack and some chin wagging.
We shopped where we were. And that's a good thing too. We have a lovely quilt shop in town, a clothing shop, a shoe store along with a wonderful candy store. What more can a girl ask for? Our "needs " were met :) After we dropped one of our friends off at her car...she handed a bag to me and said.."here is a little something for your birthday". Now the other two were quite curious :) so on the way home I opened it. This is what was inside. A gorgeous handmade runner, a tea towel that was purchased at a wonderful Primitive shop in Michigan called Holly Hills Primitives, and her wonderful homemade candle melts. I sure have been spoiled. I LOVE it all Janet. This girl knows my taste. Thank-You so much Janet.

Needle Punch

I just recently purchased this Gorgeous Needle Punch pattern from Brenda Gervais after seeing it on her blog. She designed it! Isn't it fabulous! I find this art very relaxing. I may change up the colors a bit, using what I have. I work with Valdani threads. I LoVe the look  the variegated floss gives. I'm doing Christmas now so I will have it ready when I want to display it next year:) I will post  it again when it is finished.
The sun is out here today so I may have to go out & enjoy the milder weather. What a change from last weeks freezing temps.

Twister Finished

Back when I first started blogging I posted a twister runner I was working on. I LoVe making them!
Here it is finished up, on my pie-safe with a Christmas display.

On the wall behind is the Gorgeous Christmas Sampler hand stitched by Bridgett Swindle. I just love it! The tea-pot and pie plate belonged to my dear Grandmother. The old sealer with the Santa , my friends & I  made together one year. We had so much fun making them.  I made four , three for my DD 's &  one for my Mother. None for me. Last January my Cherished Mother passed away and now I have hers.
