A Quick Christmas Craft

Today I taught my ladies group a new craft for Christmas. White Sheep Farm had posted a Quick Craft"Crochet Stars."

It went together easily and they all enjoyed it. These are some of the finished stars. Some used twine, crochet cotton, yarn & a cotton yarn. I think they did a great job !
Thank-You White Sheep Farm for another tutorial !!!!

Pumpkin Pincushion

A little pin keep I made from the Primitive Quilts & Projects Magazine  Fall 2012. I always find lots of inspiration in them.
Sometimes I like a quick project before I tackle something that will take more time.

Getting Started

Its been a long time since I have done counted cross stitch ; but I decided to give it a go when my friend asked if I knew how. Since we are going to try one together; I thought I had better hone up on my skills.  You know... with a good size magnifier it wasn"t as hard as I remember. This will look totally different once I get it finished & antiqued. Until then......

Guest Lecturer

After reading Heather Stewarts  Quilting Blog the other day about her being a guest lecturer at a quilt show, I decided  I would take the opportunity to go and listen to her. Wow! I was so thrilled to be there. My GD came along with me and we were in for  a real treat. I am only sorry I wasn 't there for all 4 demos by Heather.Saturday afternoons lecture was a Trunk Show with Heather telling us how she started sewing at a very young age. She even had her very first quilt there. She has really came a long way since then.We all have to start somewhere. There was so much love in the story about her  Sons quilt; it  brought tears to my eyes as did the one about "Beethoven Love Letters Quilt" she made. She had us all laughing too about an Interview that took place on her farm.  I don 't want to give everything away. I 'm just saying  " If you ever are fortunate enough to hear this Highly Talented Lady speak"... go for it. You will not be dissappointed!
There were lots of quilts to view, vendors to visit, a draw table and great lunch room too.

Not A Mystery Anymore

Hello all.. The mystery was revealed yesterday. Our local quilt guild had a "Mystery Trip" yesterday. Everyone wondered where we would be going! We were given the first clue.. and off we went. Our first stop was in Stratford, On. at  "Ye Olde Quilt Shoppe". Lots of fabric choices for all.  Then we were given our next clue. Off to New Hamburg,On. to see Esther at "Heart and Home. " She has a lovely quilt shop and gift shop combined. There is a huge class room at the back of the store where we had our lunch and played a couple "quilt related games", AnD then , it was off to shop in her fabric section. She has a huge selection of all kinds of fabric. OHhhh Ladies, I have been adding to my fabric stash! I really need to organize now and get ready to sit and sew..:) Of course I picked up a few patterns too, that I just HaVe to do AnD the new book " Loose Change" by Kansas Troubles Quilters. It was a grand day and the organizers did a great job for all of us to enjoy. After the rain and wind the night before , we were lucky, we had the sun with us the whole day.

Getting My Fabric Ready

Well today was spent doing something I usually do as soon as I buy new fabric.WaShing And  PresSing. How about you? Do you wash before you cut. I usually take it right to the laundry room, but I have been slacking off. My sewing room sure looks like it too. Now I would lOvE to put the fabric and pattern into containers so I know why I bought it . I kNow why I buy fabric. ITS because I LoVe it.I do not often have a pattern in mind. It just calls my name.I wonder if I am the only one who does this :).... Till next time...Marg

Springtime

The trees in my backyard are beautiful this year, all because we had no visit from "Jack".... they  have been hit by killer frosts the past few years. This year the magnolia was magnificant; the flowering crab is loaded with blooms and the lilac has that sweet smell of spring. The other day I was going   through a small hamlet & all along the side of the road were lilac trees loaded in 2 shades of purple and white ones too. The daffodils were bobbing their heads and now the tulips are all out in their glory. I just love Spring when everything is waking up. Soon I 'll make a trip to the garden centre to pick out plants for my pots. I hope you are enjoying Spring wherever you call home, Have a great week-end... Marg
